Cheesy Pap Balls
Quick, easy and delicious is often all you need for a snack or as a unique side dish to serve with dinner. This month’s recipe does just that and can be made at home in the oven or on the fire (in a fire safe baking pot/dish, of course). Let make some Cheesy Pap Balls!
What you’ll need:
120 g mealie meal
625 ml water
Salt
100 g cheddar cheese
400 g Tinned Braai Relish
What to do:
Mix 125ml of water into the pap and boil the remaining 500ml. Once boiled add the pap to the water. Season the mixture with salt and stir until it begins to boil and thicken, then set to simmer until cooked.
Stir in some of the cheddar cheese and leave to cool while preheating an oven to 180 degrees (or preparing a fire.
Once cooled roll the pap into small & medium sized balls. Pour the Braai Relish into your oven/fire safe dish and place the balls down evenly in the dish and top with some more cheddar cheese.
Bake your cheesy pap balls for approximately 15min or until the cheesy have melted and begun to turn gold.
